Abstrack
Free/Open-source software usage in GNU/Linux Operating System have been unpopular at the campus especially lecturers and students who always used certain software in proprietary OS for performing their activities. Due to that, this paper present the implementation of Neural Network Simulators in GNU/Linux with Mandriva Distribution kernel 2.6.22. Neural Network (NN) Simulators used is SNNSv4.2 and JavaNNSv1.1. These presentation consist of packet description, configuration and capability testing by case study. The case study comprise learning process and validation process of WLAN received signal level. The result is SNNSv4.2/JavaNNSv1.1 have some great features which suit for beginner or even advanced student to know and understand what Neural Network is. Furthermore, some features like XGUI which wasn't existed in Neural Network Proprietary Software. However, These Simulators have some disadvantage such as no input normalization function .
